This competition entry for IIT's Warm Up Hut competition proposes a concrete structure which is totally self-heated by exploiting the thermal properties of the material. The proposal features a combination of traditional techniques (such as thermal mass and sub-floor heating and cooling), as well as innovative solutions such as snow/hay-bale insulation supported by permanent concrete form work along the Northern facade. Users are further encouraged to actually inhabit the thermal water-wall/greenhouse heating system upon entry to the hut; creating an intense heating sensation before their moderately-heated, relaxed stay in the hut.
